Black chick peas Curry(Kadala curry)



Ingredients:

  1. Black Chick peas - 1 cup soaked for 8 hours
  2. Onion - 1 cup (chopped)
  3. Tomato -3/4 cup chopped
  4. Ginger -1 inch piece
  5. Garlic -4 cloves
  6. Green chilli - 1
  7. Salt as required
  8. Turmeric powder - a pinch
  9. Chilli powder -1 tsp
  10. Coriander powder -2 tsp
  11. Jeera powder -3/4 tsp
  12. Garam masala - 1/2 tsp 
  13. Oil - 2 tsp
  14. Cumin/ Jeera seeds - 1 tsp



Method:

  • Heat oil in a pan saut onions till it turns golden brown .
  • Add ginger, garlic and green chilli and saute for a few more minutes.
  • Add tomatoes and cook till tomatoes turn mashy.
  • Add all the ingredients mentioned under spice powder and saute for a few minutes. 
  • Cool it and grind it to a fine paste.
  • Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan or pressure pan, add jeera seeds, when it splutters, add the paste,
  • Cook chick peas with 1 cup of water, need salt and pressure cook for 4,5 whistles. 
  • Drain water and mix well with masala paste.
  • Chick pea masala is ready to serve as a side dish for chapati or porotta.
Can also try this recipe with chick peas(White)Taste is good..
