Ingredients:
- Green peas - 1 cup soaked for 8 hours
- Onion - 1 cup (chopped)
- Tomato -3/4 cup chopped
- Ginger -1 inch piece
- Garlic -4 cloves
- Green chilli - 1
- Salt as required
- Turmeric powder - a pinch
- Chilli powder -1 tsp
- Coriander powder -2 tsp
- Jeera powder -3/4 tsp
- Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
- Oil - 2 tsp
- Cumin/ Jeera seeds - 1 tsp
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan saut onions till it turns golden brown .
- Add ginger, garlic and green chilli and saute for a few more minutes.
- Add tomatoes and cook till tomatoes turn mushy.
- Add all the ingredients mentioned under spice powder and saute for a few minutes.
- Cool it and grind it to a fine paste.
- Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan or pressure pan, add jeera seeds, when it splutters, add the paste,
- Cook green peas with 1 cup of water, need salt and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
- Drain water and mix well with masala paste.
- Peas masala is ready to serve as a side dish for chapati or porotta.
Note:You can use frozen peas also. In that case, do not pressure cook.
